Tote Bags - Supply List | ||||
![]() | One Day Tote bags are practical, easy to make and fun, and really good for showcasing your patchwork skills Fabrics:- You should have at least 6 fabrics, but I have made many nice items using Oakshott Fabrics Colour blocks range, which are selections of Fat Eighths of fabric. If you are buying fabrics specially, do have some contrast. Bright prints and solids, stripes, spots, and big prints are all suitable as well as plain and tone-on-tone fabrics. 1/2 metre of a toning (or contrasting) fabric for lining. 1/2 metre of cotton or compressed polyester batting Fabrics should be 100% cotton and should NOT be prewashed, or should be starched lightly to restore texture if they have been. Good quality fabric is essential for good results. Thread:- 100% cotton thread in a pretty colour to go with your fabrics. Sewing tools:- the usual pins, scissors, etc. You should bring your rotary cutter, cutting mat, and a quilter's ruler if you have them. If you do not, don't buy them specially... Sewing machine:- Nothing fancy, all you need is straight stitch and a standard foot. If you have a walking foot, please bring that too. Please make sure that you bring the manual, put in a fresh needle, and wind a bobbin before you come. If you have any problems with, or don't understand any of the above, please contact me well in advance of the class. | |||
