Screen printing is a fascinating art. We will cover basic screen preparation and use; use of a paper stencil for short runs of a repeated image; and screen monotype, where the image is made on the screen and each one is a one-off.
Please bring:-
Fabric to print on. You will probably make a short "run" of prints, so bring more than you think you need. White, unbleached or plain coloured cotton, silk, or linen is best, but the screen printing ink will work on most fabrics. I often print onto hand-dyed fabrics with good results. Good rubber gloves (Marigolds!) not the disposable kind.
Old clothes, please, printing can be messy.
Notebook and pen for notes.
Ideas for printing...
I provide screens, inks and other equipment to use in class, paper for stencils, brushes and other tools. If you get hooked on the art, I will provide suppliers for the equipment you need. Image: Three Leaves; H. Howes 2008
